Riad Dar Les Cigognes

Dar Les Cigognes has been created from two traditional riads, houses built around a courtyard with citrus trees and fountain. On the ground floor of the front riad are the public spaces, including kitchen, dining room, library, living room, reception and office, a washroom and wc, staff quarters and two large alcoves where guests like to take tea. There are four citrus trees, and a tiled basin with a marble fountain in the centre of the courtyard. The dining room, library, and living room all have magnificient fireplaces. Upstairs there are five guest rooms, one of which is a suite. Each has its own wellappointed en-suite bathroom, with bath and shower facilities. The rooms are unique, with each drawing on a different aspect of Moorish artistic tradition. A door in the staircase leads into a covered bridge, which connects the two riads whilst housing a shop with fine local handicrafts. The second riad has three guest rooms on the ground floor as well as a hammam, which is reserved for the hotel clients only, as well as a small kitchen. The building is aslo built around a central court, with a tiled and marble fountain, as well as three magnificent palm trees that reach the upper parts. Upstairs there are three more guest rooms and a bhou (a sitting area) and an additional Moroccan salon.
From the roof terraces, the view towards the Atlas Mountain is unimpeded, and on a clear day, their snow-capped peaks glisten and shimmer in the distance. The views of the storks on the ramparts and in flight, as well as the sounds they make as they clack their beaks are both unforgettable. At dusk, as the sun begins to set with some of the most glorious colours ever seen, the ancient minaret of the Koutoubia mosque stands out in the distance.
